The Reverend Doctor Kim W. Anderson, D.Min., Pastor

The Rev. Kim W. Anderson Pastors Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Harlem, New York.  Prior to her appointment to Metropolitan, Rev. Anderson pastored Friendship A.M.E. Church in Browns Mills, NJ and served as Dean of Ministerial Training for the New Jersey Conference for five years.  She accepted her call to the ministry in her home church, St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Newark, NJ, under the leadership of the Rev. John G. Ragin.  Rev. Anderson earned her Doctorate of Ministry from Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University in the area of Marriage and Family.  She holds a Master of Divinity from Drew University, where she received honors for her creativity and overall excellence in the areas of Womanist Scholarship, Pulpit Oratory, and Community Life Ministry. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Montclair State University. Rev. Anderson has worked for social service organizations providing in-home counseling and support to children in Foster and Adoptive care.  She has also worked for PBS - Channel Thirteen/WNET in New York City, managing the local educational training team, training teachers how to effectively use television in the classroom.  In addition, she managed The Teen Leadership Institute and served as an associate producer and advisor for the video series,Ethical Choices.  She also served as consultant outreach coordinator for the weekly news program, Religion and Ethics.  She is a native of Newark, NJ and is the daughter of Willean Anderson and the late Eural Anthony Anderson.  She is the oldest to her sister Tosha and is the proud Auntie of Tianna and Jaylen.  Rev. Anderson counts it an awesome blessing and honor to serve the Lord... “I will bless the Lord at all times and praises shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)
